Five quotes for a healthy body and business

Five quotes for a healthy body and business

A healthy body is good for business. Even more so if you run your business, since your livelihood depends on your ability to deliver the goods day in, day out. On the other hand, a healthy business can do good to the body, too, by providing freedom and  fulfillment. Your health and your business live in symbiosis- they need one another. So it should come as no surprise that key components for reaching success in both realms, health and business, do quite a bit of overlapping.

Here are five quotes for a healthy body and a healthy business.

1. “A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.” – Bruce Lee

Never stop setting goals. In health, goals will keep you honest, moving forward and motivated. In business, goals are needed for growth, improvement and innovation. Set goals that are specific and measurable, for easy tracking and laser-like focus.

2. “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall” – Confucius

Hard as it may be, look for success in failure. My clients often view their falling off the wagon as failure when in reality, relapse is a natural stop on the road to lifestyle change. Same goes for business: failing is an opportunity to revisit the strategies and systems you currently have in place, to shed light on overlooked weaknesses and to also reassess your goals. Were the goals unrealistic or do you need to tweak your plan?

3. “Failure to plan is planning to fail” – Alan Lakein

Plan, plan, plan. Planning is as vital to healthy living as it is to starting a business. A well-structured plan is needed for actualizing goals, implementing ideas, keeping you in line and serve as a hit-or-miss barometer along the way.

4. “The healthy, the strong individual is the one who asks for help when he needs it” – Rona Barret

Seek support, you will need it. Nix the naysayers and surround yourself by facilitators, folks who believe and understand your path and most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask for help.  A little outside perspective can do you or your business tremendous good especially if it’s expert insight. Whether you’ve hit a physical plateau, an emotional slump or just need guidance, partner with a mentor or call upon a pro; nutritionist, personal trainer or other to redirect you towards your goal.

5. “Nothing will work unless you do. ” – Maya Angelou

Strong work ethic (or workout ethic) will separate you from the pack. Your ability to commit, follow-through, stick to the schedule and lace-up before the sun comes out will come back to serve you. Feeling distracted? Keep yourself honest by asking yourself if your actions (or lack thereof) are aligned with your desired goals. And know that in work and in wellness, your success is positively correlated with the intention and energy you’ve invested. So give it all you’ve got.

Did any of these quotes resonate with you? Have you experienced the healthy body-healthy business relationship?
